ISA Announces Individual Scholarship Program for 2010 |

The International Surfing Association (ISA), the World Governing Authority for Surfing, is now accepting applications for the 2010 ISA Individual Scholarship Program. The ISA aims to award more than forty scholarships to junior surfers around the world.
The Scholarship Program is open to all junior surfers, ages 18 and under. Applicants must prove financial need, be enrolled in school with good standing, and be an inspirational role model to the surfing community.

Notes from International Surfing Association President, Fernando Aguerre
ON A PLANE - September 30th, 2009
My wetsuit still dripping from a surf session at nearby Reef in La Jolla and I was already on a plane to Denmark, to attend the XIII Olympic Congress, the first one in 15 years. At this Congress, all stakeholders were invited to put forward proposals about the “Olympic Games in today’s society”, including the ways to keep the Games updated. As the president of the ISA (International Surfing Association), recognized by the IOC, I felt a need to help out.

Silver Surfers Return to Hawaii |

The Verizon Wireless Junior Hawaii Surf Team journeyed to Ecuador to compete and represent Hawaii as official Ambassadors of Aloha in the largest Amateur Surfing competition of its kind. The Hawaii Team was on the road for more than three weeks competing initially in the NSSA Hawaii Regional Championships on Oahu. They also initiated a beach clean up during that Kewalo Basin NSSA contest, and attended a Hard Rock Café Send Off Party that featured inspirational words from Lieutenant Governor Duke Aiona and State Senate Minority Leader Fred Hemmings. Hemmings was the first ISA World Champion representing Hawaii in 1968.
